As of the 2000 census, the population was 182. The only way to the port on
train, bus or car is through a single lane tunnel that changes direction every
30 minutes. We, of course, arrived 1 minute after incoming traffic went through.
The tunnel is 2.6 miles long.
Upon arriving in port the most noticeable thing is our giant cruise ship and
docks full of fishing boats. The army "discovered" the port during WWII and
called it the secret port. They built two large buildings, both of which still
exist and dominate the skyline. One is now abandoned and the other is condos
that house most of the 182 residents.
