-Fairbanks-

Fairbanks is the largest city in the Interior region of Alaska, and second largest in the state. Fairbanks is known for its lingering summer days. The sun is up for 21 hours and 49 minutes on the 21st of June with 24 hours of usable daylight. Conversely, the sun is up for 3 hours and 42 minutes on the 21st of December with 6 hours and 33 minutes of usable daylight. It was the strangest experience ever wearing your sunglasses at 11pm!

We stayed one night in Fairbanks, checked out the Alaskan Pipeline, the University of Alaska Museum of the North and North Pole, Alaska. We then headed in our awesome (wink) car to Anchorage...

Finally....vacation is here.....*ahhh*

Fairbanks!

We normally get a gold Buick when we rent cars, we were happy for something a little funky...even though it was a POS.

The exterior of the University of Alaska Museum of the North...the only modern thing in Fairbanks!

Stone sculpture at the University of Alaska Museum of the North

If you have seen 'Night at the Museum' you will never visit a museum again w/o imagining EVERYTHING coming to life!

Lots of "stuffed" animals...

Look at this guy's antler, growing right down the front of his face, talk about annoying!

So life-like

Eeek! Scary badger..glad I didn't see this guy in real life..

Ginormous bear with a ridiculous facial expression...lol...

It's no wonder people assume they are slow and not so smart....

Modern bear art

Antler art

These guys DEFINITELY come to life at night....

Alaskan out-house

Don't need to bring reading material to this potty!

Horse made from branches and metal strips

Love in an elevator...livin it up while we are going dowwwwn ;-)

North Pole Alaska....very interesting....

The entire town was candy canes and santa...even Wendy's had a Christmas tree and lights!

VAMH at the Alaskan pipeline

The pipeline was built above ground in areas where thaw-sensitive permafrost exists.

However, where the line must be buried, such as highway crossings or avalanche-prone areas, the pipe is encased in an insulated, refrigerated ditch.

The pipeline was built above ground in areas where thaw-sensitive permafrost exists.

800 miles long..Since its completion in 1977, the pipeline has transported over 15 billion barrels of oil

Just like Christmas Jones and James Bond...right? ;-)

In case you wanted to climb on the pipeline....probably not the best idea...

Denali National Park

Cheeeese....it really feels like vacation at this point....

So beautiful...and so windy!

Breath-taking views on the drive from Fairbanks to Anchorage...couldn't peel my eyes away!
