June 9th Update

Finally...some good news!  I was offered and accepted a job in Minneapolis this afternoon.  It took 71 days, 13 applications, 4 interviews and one dedicated couple but we've made it.  Check out the 'News' section for more details (warning, it's a lot of news).

Gavyn David Spanberger came a little earlier than expected on May 25th, 2005 at 5:25p.m. (cool birthday eh?).  I was able to visit Mom and baby in the hospital and all is well.  He is stinking cute!

Andrea graduated and Anthony is coming home within days, amazing how fast his time in Iraq went.  We will hopefully see everyone real soon.

And oh yes...the wedding planning is officially back on ladies and gentleman.  Yipee!

News

YAY!!!!  I'm officially a QA Engineer.  Well, not quite yet, but soon!  I had two jobs in the running for the last couple of weeks and one finally came through for me today.  I applied for the position on April 11th, interviewed in person with one Software Developer, a QA Engineer II, and the hiring manager on April 20th.  After the interview I thought for sure I didn't have a chance, my experience with software testing is zip, zilch, zero.  Four weeks later on May 20th I got a call from the hiring managerI thought to myself, why is she rejecting me over the phone? How awkward is this going to be?  Lo and behold, she was so happy with my interview and she wanted to bring me on as a QA Engineer I (due to my lack of experience) instead of the QA Engineer II position I had originally applied and interviewed for.  That may sound like a negative thing, but believe me, on paper I do not qualify for any of the above.  She was able to see past my resume and lack of experience and give me a chance!  Anyways, come today I get the official offer and my start date is June 20th (20 is my new lucky number).  Very soon!

I will be working in the same building as Vinny, different floor.  Our shifts probably won't match exactly for now, but we will work on that.  Vinny will be flying in on the 17th, sleeping over, and then we will head out in the car with Charlie and all my clothes for the 1500 miles road trip.  Britney will follow in the plane, we think.  She might take a plane ride with Grandpa or Grandma shortly after I leave. We'll see.  If anyone has any advice on transporting a cat across the country please e-mail me.  I do not want to be in a car for 20 hours with a cat, nor do I like the idea of her being cargo on a plane.  It's causing quite a stress.....

Today has been awfully bitter sweet.  I'm obviously thrilled to be with my other half again, and thrilled to escape my current job, but boy am I sad about leaving my home.  I can only hope my family and friends will visit often, call often, write often, did I mention visit often??  I know I will be back home as often as I can, I don't want y'all to forget me ;-)

As I spread the news about my new nephew I was asked by someone, "I didn't know your sister was pregnant, is she your real sister?"  I responded to this person with something I think is so true.  Hilary isn't my blood sister, nor is she even my step sister We aren't related by blood or even marriage, just a life long sisterly bond.  We grew up together, literally.  Our parents were together through the most influential years of our lives and we were inseparable from age 8 until 20. We shared Barbies, make-up, clothes and even boys! Anyways...my new nephew, Gavyn, was scheduled to arrive on June 6th but decided May 25th worked a little better for him.  I was able to visit Hilary and Gavyn in the hospital and got to hold him for hours.  Hilary was also doing very well after having her C-section, much better than the first time around. EEK!

With the nice weather and lonely weekends I have been able to bring out my 'social' personality and hang out with a lot of great people and we've had some great times.  Poker parties, BBQ's, dancing the night away, and even watching Britney's new show, 'Chaotic'.  Check out the pictures from these fun events on my page.

If you dont care about cats, hate cats, hate my cat, whatever, stop reading now.

So lil Miss Britney Boy has had quite the adventure at her Grandma's house.  One evening she comes home, has a sore on her chest, no biggy.  That no biggy turned into a $398.00 abscess.  10 days of antibiotics and a sick kitty and she is finally better.  For two days.  So we notice she is limping..we poke and prod until we find a couple wounds that she REALLY doesn't like us touching.  Ok..vet visit #2.  Thank goodness I was able to get Ashley's discount at her new job since technically Britney lives in her house.  They shave her back end, open the sores, and send her home (only $38.00 damage this time).  10 more days of antibiotics and one pissed of kitty.  Oh look at that..she is limping AGAIN.  Vet visit #3, found another hidden wound, shaved her more, opened the sores and back home.  A few days of hot compresses, antibiotics and pain killers and kitty seems to be getting better.  OH WAIT! Limping AGAIN!!!  Vet visit #4...infection from her wounds has 'settled' in her leg, her foot and leg is swollen twice the size, but no worries, the wounds are now healed.  Kitty is feeling better, shaved all over , poor girl, she is on her 30th day of antibiotics with 6 more to go.  Needless to say we have gotten her in the habit of being an inside cat, in Minnesota she will not be going outside, and hopefully we've traumatized her enough the plane ride over won't be so bad...once again....EEK....
